yo i have to say it we need a good indian food place in SC. yeah i know there is SRI which is great but there is only a few things on the menu. then there is the royal taj which in my opnion SUCKS, dont like the vibe, the food, or the prices. Now there is the jumping monkey which i like, their somosas are excellent, but they only have three thing on the menu. i really hope jumping monkey takes off and opens a bigger resturant, or someone jumps on the ball and provides SC with so Quality indian food

Re: GOOD Indian food in SC PLEASE!!!
Sat, March 4, 2006 - 4:28 PMYes, the only place that I go to is Jumping Monkey. Here's the info if people don't have it:
Jumping Monkey Cafe
418 Front Street
Santa Cruz, CA · 831-466-0168
www.jumpingmonkeycafe.com/
Small cafe with good homemade vegan Indian food.
Sri Lankan food is close, and there are many good choices in Santa Cruz, where they are entirely vegetarian:
Asian Rose
1547 Pacific Ave
Santa Cruz, CA · 831-458-3023
Long-time favorite; quick unusual inexpensive Sri Lankan food.
Malabar Cafe
1116 Soquel Ave
Santa Cruz, CA · 831-423-7906
menustation.com/M alabar/menu.html
Upscale Sri Lankan; very creative and very good.
Sri (mostly vegan, but a couple chicken dishes)
736 Water St
Santa Cruz, CA · 831-457-2350
Sri Lankan food; lots of vegan dishes to choose from.
Sometimes Dharma's has an Indian-inspired dish, as does La Vie.

"Sitara" on the corner of Homestead and Lawrence Expressway has the most exquisite flavors with a wonderful variety of Indian dishes, especially during lunch buffets :)

Wed, March 14, 2007 - 8:46 AMHi - I am the dancer from the restaurant in Watsonville. It was called Lil' India, but they have shut down and are looking to relocate possibly in Capitola.
Yeah - slim pickins in SC. Sitar is supposed to be owned and run my the Royal Taj... also Sri and Malabar are not really Indian... I'd like to see more Indian and some ETHIOPIAN food in SC!
YUM!

Re: GOOD Indian food in SC PLEASE!!!
Mon, August 28, 2006 - 12:01 PMI sponsored a vegan dinner at Royal Taj a few months ago, and it actually was good! They had a lot of items that could be vegan.
Although, I love Jumping Monkey. Everything's homemade and fresh. Too bad they have to be next to the noise. The prices are great.

Fri, March 2, 2007 - 2:16 PMThere's now Indian food at the Wed Santa Cruz downtown farmers market. India Clay Oven from the bay area goes there. And there's another vendor selling jars of curry for making your own dishes.

Re: GOOD Indian food in SC PLEASE!!!
Tue, July 15, 2008 - 3:46 PMThere's a new Indian restaurant in Aptos, where the Bleu Spoon used to be (close to the State Park exit). It's called Ambrosia and it's supposed to be great.
